“ | "A person becomes an archer for two reasons: first, they can't stand all that heavy armor, and second, because they hate getting hit." | ” |
— Game Description |
Archers are the sole ranged unit in Ash's army and are based on real-life archers that typically employed ranged bow attacks. Their main purpose is to serve as ranged support and deal heavy damage when paired with a Torch-Boy
Although their range is fairly long at 300 units, their damage is rather unimpressive especially when considering that alternatives such as Spearmen, Horsemen, Swordsmen, and even Peasants have a higher damage per cost. Their low health only exacerbates their weakness, as it can make it difficult to maintain large masses of them when they walk forwards toward enemies and will leave them vulnerable if high-HP units in front die. Their biggest weakness, however, is their tendency to overkill their targets, or shoot arrows at targets that are already dead. This wastes time as the arrows could have been shot at enemies that are already alive, and this tendency to waste arrows
The Torch-boy can make Archers into a much more effective fighting force, as the fire can contribute very significant damage over time. This is especially effective against high-HP targets such as Evil Ash. However, this still doesn't solve their problem with overkilling their targets and wasting arrows.
While they can be effective en masse, other options typically do their job faster, with fewer casualties, and at a lower cost. As stated earlier, the Torch-boy can help them deal damage faster, but it still doesn't help them overshadow other options.
Notes
- If Arthur is summoned, two Archers will also appear.
- You don't have to include the Archers in your army to have the Wall Archers.
- You don't need the Torch-Boy or the Archers to use the Arrow Volley, that is an individual power.
- The Torch-Boy will light up an Archers's arrows, but if the Torch-Boy dies, the effect will not be available until you summon another Torch-Boy.

When arrows are on fire:
It is also to be noted that Archers, when they are buffed by the Torch-Boy, have their values changed. Arrows, when on fire, do less damage immediately but much more damage with their fire.
